Catholic Charities Appeal

The theme of the Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal is Help Your Neighbor Find Hope.

As Holly Walter, president of the St. Mary’s chapter of the Ladies of Charity, noted in her recent presentation to parishioners, “Every Lent, we consider charitable donations to many different organizations as part of our Lenten devotion and sacrifice. Catholic Charities is one organization we are asked to donate to in order to maintain the many programs that help the less fortunate and those in need in our diocese.” One of these groups is the Ladies of Charity – and through this organization alone, take a look at how many individuals and families were helped during 2018:

  • Clothing donations: 1,463 families – 3,487 people

  • Household items for displaced persons through the Fresh Start program: 805 families – 1,979 people

  • Infant layettes: 260 babies

  • Book bags filled with supplies for school children: 212 families – 550 children

  • Christmas toys: 754 families – 1,911 children

And that’s just one example of how your donation to Catholic Charities helps your neighbors find hope.

St. Mary’s goal for the Catholic Charities 2019 Appeal is $96,937.71. As of May 20, we are at 78% of that goal. Thank you to all who have already given!
