Liturgical Environment Ministry

The St. Mary’s Liturgical Environment Ministry decorates the Church to reflect the liturgical seasons and maintains all the plants in Church. Persons interested in this ministry tend to enjoy learning more about the liturgical seasons, as well as such activities as crafting, sewing, building, painting, and floral arranging. (A green thumb is helpful for work with Church plants!)

Planning meetings are held periodically during the year, but attendance is not mandatory. A portion of sewing, floral arranging and other work can be done at your convenience, and some tasks can be completed at home. You can work alone, with a partner, or in a group. Persons of all ages, with all levels of talent and desire to help, are welcome. Time commitments tend to consolidate around the change of seasons.

There also is a need for volunteers willing to take on an occasional project. To learn more or have your name added to one of our volunteer lists, please contact Elaine Driscoll at (716) 683-8611 or edristoj@aol.com.

Current Needs: Help With Banners, Faith Chest Crosses & Advent Wreath Kits

The Liturgical Environment Committee is currently in need of volunteers for these projects:

  • Approximately eight long banners that need re-hemming. This is straight stitching, but the hems need to be straightened.

  • Fifty to sixty 6-inch wooden crosses that need to be stained for Faith Chests, which are given to newly-baptized children. If you have the stain and the time, we have the crosses!

  • Pine cones, ribbons and flowers added to wreaths them for our Advent wreath kits. Pine cones, ribbons and flowers will be provided. All you need is some time and a glue gun!
