RCIA
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a period of time for adults, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, for reflection, prayer, instruction, discernment and formation. It is a time to draw closer to the mystery of who God is and why we need to move closer to Jesus Christ, and to examine the Catholic faith.
Participants are encouraged to go at their own pace, taking as much time as they need to process that the Church is offering an invitation to an ongoing conversation.
There is no obligation involved in attending these sessions.
At the annual Easter Vigil, if participants choose to become full members of Christ’s Body, they receive the Sacraments of Initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation.
- Baptism opens the door to all other sacraments, as a person becomes a child of God.
- Eucharist is the sacrament that nourishes our body and soul in grace, so we can live as Christ would have us live.
- Confirmation confirms a person’s Baptism, as they become soldiers in Christ’s army of strengthened followers.
We hope this information will be an incentive to join our Sunday sessions, if you are thinking of becoming a Catholic or wish to complete these sacraments as an adult – or simply wish to learn more about the Catholic faith. We have been blessed with successful past seasons, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, look forward to new seasons of growth and friendships through Christ.
