The Soul

Jan 4, 2026

We think we know ourselves, yet most of us admit we don’t know much about let’s say . . . computers.  When you look at the inside of a computer, it’s made up of tiny instrumentation, yet in a few seconds, you can connect with somebody on the opposite side of the globe.  Amazing!  Computers are such mysteries.

Yet, when you think about it, who created a computer?  A person or a group of persons.  Yet who created you?  God.  So how much more are you a mystery, a wonder to behold!

But a mystery you say?  I know myself.  Do we really though?  Do you know how what each cell is doing in your body at this moment?  Do you know every thought you’ve ever had or will have?  Do you know the subtleties of your wounded heart?  God does and God cares intimately about every detail.

St. Thomas said that collectively we are like a prism.  When we are interiorly pure and the Light, which is God, is shining through us, we are refracted into a multiplicity of color.  Each of us is a unique and brilliant hue, called to shine like no other.  We are beautiful.  We are such wonders!  Let us pray to open up to the mystery and wonder we are called to be.  We have much to learn.

Don’t hide, shine brightly, radiate through your faith and talents.  Is this pride or bragging?  No.  It’s not about talking, it’s about being.  It’s about doing.  Be light and be salt too.  Stick to your faith.  God created you and believes passionately in you.  If you doubt this, just look at the cross.  That’s how much He believes in you.  Now for the hard part, believe in yourself.
